This performance is an ode to the disparate sources that inspired it, while liberating itself from them to create unexpected combinations and forms, free of the references that informed the work. They are therefore pursuing their research long term, based on a curiosity for choreographic and musical forms of expression that is as much anthropological as it is formal. Based on theexperience of these heterogeneous languages, they present a specific, speculative, abstract, and humorous composition. Through this artwork, François Chaignaud and Cecilia Bengolea affirm their passion for the rich diversity of choreographic and artistic practices, deriving from all walks of life.

Fascinated by the rhythmic complexity of Jamaican Dancehall, for several years now Cecilia Bengolea has been interested in the musical and choreographic culture emerging the 1960s. ‍ Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud are working with the Ballet de Marseille and the Japanese ballerina Erika Miyauchi, to create an artwork inspired by their previous collaborations, Dublove (2013), Altered Natives (2012), and DFS (2017). The UKs participation theme was Innovating for a Shared. ‍ Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud ‍ GrimeLove ‍ In collaborati on with the national Ballet of Marseille. The UK participated in the World Expo in Dubai, taking place from 1 October 2021 - 31 March 2022. For France Day, GrimeLove by choreographers Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud will be performed three times to the World Expo public.
